Background
The cemeteries managed by Stadtwerke Voitsberg and Judenburg lacked a wayfinding system to help visitors locate gravesites — they were looking for a solution that was intuitive to use and, at the same time, durable enough for long-term outdoor use. The goal was to provide visitors with a simple, unobtrusive way to search for the deceased without requiring any prior technical knowledge.
Solution for Stadtwerke Voitsberg
Outdoor kiosks equipped with 49-inch touchscreens were installed, allowing visitors to interactively search for deceased individuals and view the location of their burial — the system was deliberately kept simple to accommodate even users who are less tech-savvy. The touchscreens are weather-resistant and vandal-proof.
The hardware used consists of one FRAMR. Player PRO unit. It reliably controls the content, even under changing weather conditions, and ensures stable display of interactive applications in outdoor settings.
Technical challenge
The primary challenge was to uniformly manage 45 locations from a central location, while accommodating the varying local needs of each retail partner. With FRAMR., this poses no problem, as it enables cross-location communication for up to 100 displays simultaneously.
Result
It has become noticeably easier to find one’s way around the Friedwald; uncertainty when searching for graves has been reduced; and the municipal utilities now have a low-maintenance, scalable solution.
