How much does digital signage cost?
Detailed information & calculation examples
Last updated on: May 18th 2026
For businesses, one thing matters above all else when investing in digital infrastructure: the cost-benefit ratio. Many opt for digital signage because it offers a wide range of benefits. Digital signage solutions serve as both advertising displays and presentation media – and the technology allows for the flexible playback of various types of content.
Businesses are aware of these benefits but many questions remain regarding the cost structure:
- How much does the software cost?
- How much does the hardware cost?
- Are there custom packages available?
- Do costs depend on subscription terms?
- Do companies like FRAMR. offer packages? If so, how much do they cost?
Below, we answer these questions and take a closer look at the pricing structures. We’ll also show you sample offers and how to make the right choice for your business.

Digital Signage costs: An overview
Prices are always customized
We can’t give a simple answer to the question of how much digital signage costs. There is no price list or anything similar; instead, costs always depend on individual preferences and needs. It is certainly possible to provide a rough estimate and indicate what costs may be incurred.
These cost factors must be taken into account
The costs are based on the available digital signage modules and features. Other cost factors include service (e.g., maintenance) and subscription terms. But the type of software also plays a role — for example, a browser-based digital signage solution costs more than an application that runs only on specific operating systems. Other cost factors include the number of playlists and storage space.
However, costs depend not only on digital signage applications but also on the company. It makes a difference whether a customer needs two or 20 monitors. It is also important to distinguish whether digital signage is used for displaying elaborately produced content or for employee communication.
Distinguishing between software and hardware costs
Digital signage applications consist of two components: hardware and software. Companies offer digital signage software for a monthly fee starting at €5 to €10 per month. Added to this are hardware costs starting at €900. However, the hardware costs include not only the purchase of a display but also, for example, players required to run the software and external cloud hosting. The latter offers advantages in terms of data security and maintenance.
How much does digital signage hardware cost?
Digital signage displays with good resolution and 40+ inches are available starting at €700. High-quality devices are correspondingly more expensive. We do not recommend inexpensive hardware, especially when investing in outdoor signage, as such devices are usually not protected against environmental factors like cold and rain or against vandalism.
Digital signage costs are flexible
There are many more cost factors involved in digital signage applications. For example, some providers create content for their customers. Many customers also seek advice on marketing and presentation, which also incurs costs. It is therefore nearly impossible to quote specific costs for digital signage without further information from the client, as there are too many variables. In most cases, a combination of hardware and software is sufficient, but even here, prices depend on various factors.
Our tip: Determine your digital signage needs in advance. Learn about the possible applications and understand the scope of your project. The more precisely your company knows its needs, the better you can calculate costs.

Cost savings shouldn’t be your number one priority
The countless application possibilities with digital signage require a demand planning in the first step. In this context, the question is justified, if it’s not better to waive off some functions or to buy cheap hardware. But this is not a purposeful approach. Digital signage is based on the approach to display information and advertising in high quality to offer target groups a wide media diversity. Limited software functions and low quality hardware don’t live up with these expectations.
After all, it’s important to remember that the benefits and advantages clearly outweigh the costs. You can learn more about this in our blog post “What is Digital Signage?”.

Weighing the investment against cost savings
The costs of acquisition and ongoing operation must be weighed against the potential cost savings. Examples of potential savings:
- Screens replace printed materials,
- advertising space is monetized,
- processes are automated (e.g., through the reuse of design templates)
- and personnel costs are reduced.
The specific savings depend on the company and its structures, as well as on the monetization opportunities and the extent to which the workload on staff is reduced.
