Case Study – Klinikum Wels
Background
In collaboration with OMS Objekt Management Service GmbH, Megatechnik developed a comprehensive digital wayfinding system for the Wels-Grieskirchen Hospital. This replaced a static site map that could not be updated flexibly and did not allow for interactive navigation.
The goal was to transition to a user-friendly solution that enables visitors and patients to navigate the sprawling hospital complex intuitively — while remaining up-to-date at all times, flexibly expandable and maintainable in-house.
Solution
The previous static floor plan was replaced with an interactive FRAMR. solution. All outpatient clinics, wards and routes were digitally mapped and are accessible via a modern user interface. Crucially, hospital staff can update information — such as detours or new areas — on their own, in real time, without external support.
In addition, several touch kiosks equipped with FRAMR. Ultra Players were installed at central locations throughout the hospital. They allow users to easily select a starting point and destination and display a detailed route, including elevators, floors and estimated walking time. With the Progressive Web App (PWA), visitors can use QR codes inside the building to detect their location and start navigation immediately — without having to install an app.
