Case Study – Klinikum Wels
In collaboration with OMS Objekt Management Service GmbH, Megatechnik developed a comprehensive digital wayfinding system for Klinikum Wels-Grieskirchen.
The goal was to create a user-friendly solution that allows visitors and patients to intuitively navigate the large hospital complex – while remaining up-to-date, easily expandable, and internally maintainable at all times.
Smart navigation with FRAMR. Directory
The previously static site map was replaced with an interactive FRAMR. solution. All outpatient departments, wards, and routes were digitally mapped and are accessible through a modern user interface. A key feature: content such as detours or newly opened areas can be updated by the hospital staff themselves – without external support and in real time.
On-site touch kiosks & mobile web app
Several touch kiosks equipped with FRAMR. Ultra Players were installed at key points throughout the hospital. They allow users to easily select a starting point and destination, displaying a detailed route including elevators, floors, and estimated walking time.
Additionally, a Progressive Web App (PWA) was developed for use on personal smartphones. Visitors can scan QR codes located throughout the building to determine their position and start navigation instantly – no app installation required.

Information & job postings for patients and visitors
A 400 × 250 cm LED wall with a fine 1.9 mm pixel pitch was installed in the main entrance area. It provides daily updates on hospital news, health services, and current job openings – keeping patients, visitors, and staff well informed at all times.
